On this day, Jiang Ningbao stayed in her courtyard and did not go to Duke Ding Residence. The atmosphere in Changning Count Residence was a bit low. They heard that her oldest uncle who was sent to Clear Water Temple had not woken up and Monk Gao could not find the reason.

The courtyard of the first branch was covered in gloomy clouds.

Jiang Ningbao sat on the short sofa beside the window as she stared at the servants coming and going below. She ate the strawberry the duke sent with relish and she felt that the strawberry was even better than the ones in her hamlet.

At the side, Chun Le took a needle to embroider the shallow basket made from thin bamboo. Although Chun Le was chubby, her hands were skillfully using the needle to embroider prettily and exquisitely.

Jiang Ningbao sighed every single time she saw this. Chun Le was good at needlework.

“Lady, the rumor had spread in secret.” Chun Xi walked in with a smile as she reported this news to her lady happily.

Jiang Ningbao washed her hand in the bronze basin at the side and took a handkerchief to wipe her hand clean. Hearing Chun Xi’s words, a smile appeared on her face and her brows flashed with swift fierceness.

“Wait until the seed grows into a big tree, then it’s time for harvest.”

“Lady, would these rumors be effective? The count suddenly fainted, what if he does not wake up?” Aside from feeling happy, Chun Xi had a shred of worry.

Jiang Ningbao smiled slightly and spoke surely, “If there’s no accident, oldest uncle will wake up.”

The female lead Yang Shuqing used the matter of her oldest uncle fainting to make a big show, scheming and framing ‘Jiang Ningbao’ and her older brother Jiang Jin. Jiang Ningbao knew this from the novel and she made a plan in secret, waiting for the opportunity to take action.

First, she used a nightmare to drag Zhang Zhan down the water to distant the relationship between Old Madam Jiang and First Madam Zhang. More importantly, Jiang Ningbao wanted to use this matter to make her oldest uncle spit out the benefits he got from her engagement annulment.

Fifth sister’s engagement was set. Jiang Ningbao had no tendency to ruin another person’s reputation, but her oldest uncle stepped on hers to get the fifth rank in the Ministry of Public Works counsellor official position that had to be dismissed.

A light and easy job, and also a fifth rank official position.

Her oldest uncle fainted and even great doctors and Monk Gao could not find the reason why.

This was a very good chance.

Moral unworthy of the position, wasn’t this a very good reason?

Jiang Ningbao was not a push-over. She endured from the start because she was waiting this day to come. Old Madam Jiang did not know that her granddaughter had secretly planned all this.

At this moment, there was a rumor circulating in the capital. Changning Count fainted suddenly because he stepped on his niece’s reputation to climb, his morals unworthy of his position, so the sky gave him punishment.

The rumor fermented slowly and after Old Madam Jiang in Changning Count Residence knew about this, she tried to suppress this rumor only to realize that she could not. There seemed to be someone in the dark who pushed all this. Old Madam Jiang became impatient and anxious but she could not do anything.

The rumor kept on spreading.

Anyuan Marquis Residence.

Yang Shuqing knitted her brows as she heard her servant girl Qian Rong speaking about the rumors in the capital, her eyes flashed with a trace of darkness. In her previous life, Changning Count also fainted at this time and then he woke up again.

It did not gather any attention.

Perhaps her interference made some changes.

“Jiang fourth miss is a lucky person,” Yang Shuqing spoke meaningfully. Her gaze fell on Qian Bi, “Qian Bi, don’t you think so?”

“Lady is right,” Qian Bi immediately spoke with respect, her heart had understood what her lady meant.

“Retreat. Remember to manage this matter well,” Yang Shuqing waved her hand to gesture for Qian Bi to leave. After Qian Bi left, only Qian Rong remained. Yang Shuqing looked at her with a deep gaze and asked out of the blue.

“Qian Rong, have you found the person?”

Qian Rong’s heart trembled and she immediately nodded, “Please be assured, my lady, this servant had sent people to search for the person and had set up the statements.”

“Very good.” Yang Shuqing smiled with satisfaction.

“Another thing, today, Second Madam Xie brought a coquettish girl to Duke Ding Residence when she searched to Heir Xie.” Qian Rong hesitated and spoke of another matter.

Yang Shuqing’s pretty eyes squinted a little and her tone was faint, “I know, you retreat.” No emotion could be heard from her voice which secretly carried a trace of indifference.

Qian Rong retreated with respect.

…..

The morning of the next day, Jiang Ningbao once more received the basket of fresh fruits from Xie Qi and she was stunned.

“Xie Qi, did I not tell you yesterday to convey to the duke that it’s not necessary to send again?”

“The master ordered to keep on sending.” Xie Qi was innocent. The master ordered so he had to get it done. Jiang fourth miss seemed to dislike these fruits.

Jiang Ningbao: “…..”

She deeply measured Xie Qi, this black clothed personal guard beside the duke. The duke who was such a brilliant person won’t misunderstand her meaning so it must be Xie Qi who did not convey it right.

Xie Qi was stared at by Jiang fourth miss felt his heart sweating.

“Jiang fourth miss…..These fruits are a gift from the master. Why don’t you just accept it?”

“I accept the fruits sent this time. Xie Qi, when you go back, tell the duke to not send these fruits again, I can’t finish them all by myself. Forget it, you wait a moment, I will return to the room to write a letter for you to give to the duke, lest you convey the meaning wrong and made the duke misunderstand.”

Jiang Ningbao thought about it and decided to personally write a letter to make things clear.

Xie Qi: “…..”

A scapegoat fell from the sky.

He clearly conveyed it right but the master misunderstood. Xie Qi thought in his heart with a feeling of being wronged.

Chun Xi and Chun Le at the side who saw Xie Qi like this could not help but laugh silently.

“I almost forgot. Xie Qi, why did the duke suddenly send my fruits? Could it be that there are too many of them in the hamlet?” Jiang Ningbao asked with curiosity.

Xie Qi’s face stiffened.

  1. ‘so the sky gave him punishment’.
    ‘Sky’ should be ‘heavens’.

Ningbao needs to say that she greatly appreciates the fruits but it’s impossible for her to eat even most of them if she receives that many everyday. She really needs to mention her appreciation.
